FAO forecasts that the global wheat output will be 762.6 million tons in 2020 / 21
On May 7, the food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) released the world grain supply and demand briefing, predicting that the global grain output in 2019 will be 2.72 billion tons, little change compared with last month. However, FAO reduced global grain consumption by 24.7 million tons in 2019 / 20, mainly because of the impact of new coronavirus on the economy.
FAO forecast this month that the global wheat output in 2020 / 21 will be 762.6 million tons, basically the same as that in 2019.
FAO expects production to decline in the EU, North Africa, Ukraine and the US, but higher production in Australia, Kazakhstan, Russia and India will largely offset.
Global consumption is expected to remain stable in 2020 / 21, with consumption growth in the food industry expected to offset the reduction in feed and industrial consumption.
